The Przewalski’s horse, also known as the Mongolian wild horse or takhi, is the last truly wild horse species in existence. Unlike domestic horses, it has never been successfully tamed. The bold, stocky, upright-maned wild horses you see here aren’t your everyday paddock ponies. They’re Przewalski’s Horses, or “P-horses” if you’d rather skip the tongue-twister. Once gone from the grasslands of Mongolia, Kazakhstan and the Gobi Desert, these are the world’s last truly wild horses. At Monarto Safari Park, their story is one of patience and persistence.
