The Virginia native learned piano at a young age and played at his grandfather’s Pentecostal church. As a teen, he formed a group called 'Three of a Kind' with his cousins and they performed at local talent shows. His first major mark on the music industry was co-producing the 1994 single 'U Will Know' for the R&B group Black Men Unit
