I was offered 500mb or 1gig service on new, being installed in front if me right now, fiber optic internet. They can save me over $500 over the next 3 years, PLUS give me a $100 prepaid card.

Jan 22, 2024 · Appreciate the response, answers below. When the signal is disrupted, the primary issue is packet loss and upload speed. This happens on a wired connection and on all wireless bands. Utilizing the newest panoramic modem from cox, as well as a Commscope Cat6a patch cord, directly attached to the modem.

Jun 11, 2024 · I really wish Norfolk had an option for internet. Cox has a monopoly in my area and they know it so have crap for service. I pay for gigabit service and run speed tests regularly and get 21 mbps speeds regularly and sometimes as low as 3.7 mbps. I have to restart the entire system multiple times a day to get over 500mbps speeds. This is such crap.

Fiber has faster upload, less latency and less problems overall. Finally Metronet doesn't have a cap while Cox caps most area at 1.25TB. The trouble is on Cox's end, and they still haven't acknowledged they have an outage1/2 an hour later. The fact that we can't report via a mechanism on the app or online suggests Cox either has made the decision to ignore it's customers or it's that incompetent. Pretty sure it's both.
