Pretty much any 1440p monitor will downscale 4k to 1440p and upscale 1080p to 1440p. The issue with it not working on most monitors with the PS5 is an issue with the PS5 assuming the monitor has HDMI 2.0. The PS5 wants a specific EDID for 1080p120 or 4k60 and most 1440p monitors really have no need for the former, and not necessarily the latter.

Size and budget will change recommendations greatly so, without those details, hard to give much of a recommendations. If you don't care about HDR, that will also change the cost. HDR10 monitors are usually the low low end (300 nits) and start around 250-300.

Apr 19, 2023 · I'm using a Samsung G5 Odyssey, and have been since well before the 1440p patch, it was one of several 1440 monitors that were able to accept a 4K signal and downscale it. It's also capable of HDR and 120hz/fps. The PS5 is now set to 1440 as opposed to 4k/auto, but to be honest I've never noticed any differences or problems using either mode.

Dec 29, 2021 · Some monitors can downsample 4k to 1440p. However in general, games don't upscale so well on monitors compared to TV's . TV's have good upscaling AI tech because most TV shows still aren't HD, so they have to look good upscaled in these massive size displays we have today. Monitors are good mostly in showing "native" resolutions.

I almost regret not getting an Xbox for the sake of the incredible selection of reasonably priced 1440p monitors (Sony pls).

Jul 20, 2022 · Which "Samsung Odyssey G7"? There's 4 different monitors that carry that branding. The Neo G7 originally mentioned in the top level comment is a 4k 165Hz 32" curved VA monitor. The Neo G8 is the 240Hz higher end version of that base monitor. Then there's last year's G7 (commonly referred to as the G70A) which is a flat 28" 4k 144Hz IPS.
