November 12, 2024. Forest’s North Lambton Eagles has qualified for the OFSAA girls’ basketball tournament for the first time in school history. The Eagles led from wire-to-wire in beating Lajeunese, 40-25 in Windsor for the SWOSSA A championship Tuesday. North Lambton led 14-7 after a quarter and took a 25-10 advantage into the intermission.

Petrolia to take a look at second ice pad possibilities
1 day ago · The idea of a second ice pad in Petrolia is gaining traction. Kelly Bailey and Lisa Vanderwal, who call themselves dedicated hockey moms, started a petition urging Petrolia to build a second ice pad. They say the growth of girls hockey is, in part, spurring the need for more ice time. The pair took their idea to Petrolia Council Monday.

1 day ago · November 13, 2024. Petrolia/North Enniskillen firefighters are reminding people to check their dryers after a small fire. Wednesday, around 3:30 pm, firefighters were called to the seniors complex for a dryer fire. Crews moved quickly and were able to contain the damage to just the dryer itself, pulling the unit out of the apartment.
$3M watermain would lead to development | The Independent
Mar 4, 2024 · Petrolia is planning to upsize a Petrolia Line watermain from Bear Creek to Oil Heritage Road to be ready for development. Feb. 20, council approved a $143,000 contract for engineers to complete drawings for the work estimated at $3 million.
Petrolia scales back development charges proposal

In December, council received a report from BM Ross which said the town should begin to charge fees of nearly $14,000 for each single family home built as a way to pay for the services and capital items which will be needed when the population of the town increases.

Feb 26, 2024 · Heather Wright/The Independent There will be a new child care centre in the Petrolia by 2026. Lambton County councillors have given the green light to design a $5.9 million, 5,385 square foot building to house a 49-space child care centre on the grounds of Lambton Meadowview Villa.
