You can get CTA system maps and the Downtown Transit Sightseeing Guide at CTA headquarters, 'L' (rail) stations, Chicago airports, and certain visitor information centers (subject to availability). You can also call Customer Service to request brochures to be mailed to you.

Later, the CTA upgraded to an Automatic Train Control System, which provides instructions electronically not only on wayside signals but also in the motorman's itself. Most of the CTA employs this system, though the Dearborn Subway and Forest Park (Congress) branch still use the ABS system they were built with.

Although the more recent maps, dating from 2002, are largely broken up based on different routes, they are not route maps per se, showing the logical routings of the passenger trains. Oct 25, 2023 · My design experiments with nonstandard angles for lines, aligns stations along the same major street to one gridline, shows under construction (full-color) and proposed (grey) line and station expansion projects, and also includes connecting Amtrak and ATS lines.

The train tracker API is online, honestly the most work would be trying to replicate the board, they have all the wiring and actual PCB representing Chicago along with the rivers in the loop. You're pretty much paying for the work that went into the design not the actual components themselves.
