City Mayor Eric Adams on Saturday doubled down on defending his meeting with soon-to-be president Donald Trump, claiming he was “fighting for” New Yorkers, as fellow Democrats accused him of cozying up to Trump in efforts to get a presidential pardon for his federal corruption case.

Adams’ office said he had “made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers.”

New York Mayor Eric Adams said he had a “productive conversation” with Donald Trump on Friday that touched on a number of issues, including the effect of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement on public safety and ways to attract manufacturing jobs to the city.
