Hamas and Israel on Saturday accused the other of blocking attempts to strike a Gaza ceasefire agreement, nearly a week into indirect talks between the two sides to halt 21 months of bitter fighting in the Palestinian territory.

Palestinian authorities and family members said Israeli settlers beat and killed a Palestinian-American man. Israel said the violence began when Palestinians threw stones at Israeli civilians.

Trump is counting on the threat of more attacks to pressure Tehran into a nuclear agreement, but Israel is skeptical a pact would prevent Iran from moving toward a nuclear weapon.
