LANDOVER, Md. — The rematch of the 2024 NFC Championship is finally here. After 15 weeks of waiting, the Washington Commanders will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Northwest Stadium at 5 p.m. on Saturday. It will be just one out of the Commanders' final three games, which happen to be all NFC East opponents.

The SportsLine Projection Model is backing the Commanders on the spread and money line in this game. Washington covers in 51% of simulations and wins in 46% of them. The Over on 46.5 hits in 52% of simulations.

All the Washington Commanders’ first victory in quite some time truly proved was that they can, indeed, beat one of the other worst teams in the NFL.

New York is a very slim 2.5-point favorite on the spread, which shouldn’t be challenging to cover. The Giants managed to cover this same line in both victories, beating the Los Angeles Chargers by three points in Week 4 before blowing out the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks later.

The Commanders’ defense ranks 31 st in the NFL, at an alarming +0.156 EPA/play. You really want that figure to be negative – the Texans’ defense leads the league at -0.131 EPA/play. The Commanders rank dead last in dropback EPA/play at an eye-popping +0.267, and rank 26 th against the run at +0.004.

The penalties were another self inflicted hurdle for the Commanders. Washington was flagged eleven times for 67 yards, and several of those mistakes came at the worst possible moments. Penalties extended Giants drives on defense and wiped out positive plays on offense, preventing the Commanders from fully pulling away.
