Firefighters are battling a brush fire that broke out near a Providence cemetery Tuesday evening, according to the city's fire chief.

A brush fire broke out Tuesday night on the East Side of Providence. Fire Chief Derek Silva said on X that the fire was burning in about 2 acres in the woods around Lippitt Park and Swan Point Cemetery.

Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire that burned between one and two acres in Coventry Tuesday night. Deputy Fire Chief Gary Daugherty told 12 News the fire broke out in the woods off of Lydia and Jade roads.

Anyone who notices flames, smoke or other signs of a brush fire is urged to call it in immediately so firefighters can investigate and contain it as quickly as possible.
