Nate Richard of Collider agrees, giving Heads of State a 7 out of 10 for being “stupid in all the right ways.” Idris Elba and John Cena are so great together that they overshadow a lot of the film’s other shortcomings, Richard says, writing:

Heads of State” is Prime Video’s latest original movie that unites Idris Elba and John Cena as unexpected allies on the run, and it’s streaming now.

Elba, whose career includes a lot of what might be called prestige genre, has such natural poise and gravity that one assumes he's done all the Shakespeares and Shaws and Ibsens, but "The Wire" and " Luther " were more his thing.
