McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) plans to spend $100M to help its franchises that were most affected by the recent E.coli outbreak that sickened more than 100 people and hurt sales, according to media reports Friday,

McDonald's is investing $100 million to bring customers back to stores after an outbreak of E. coli food poisoning tied to onions on the fast-food giant's Quarter Pounder hamburgers.

This week, the company completed the return of Quarter Pounder burgers, with slivered onions, to all restaurant menus nationwide.

The company is putting $35 million directly toward marketing and another $65 million to lift up stores that lost business due to the outbreak.
