A developing winter storm is threatening to drop snow, sleet and freezing rain on parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas

A winter storm is moving across the southeastern portion of the U.S., bringing snow, sleet and other cold-weather conditions to a part of the nation not accustomed to coping with blustery temperatures.

On Thursday at 2:53 p.m. the NWS Wilmington NC issued a winter weather advisory valid from Friday 4 p.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. The advisory is for Inland Pender as well as Robeson, Bladen and Columbus counties.

On Thursday at 11:36 a.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 5 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. The advisory is for Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Macon, Platte, Clay, Ray,

Snow will start near sunrise and fall consistently throughout the day Friday. It should become more scattered Friday night into Saturday. A few bands of lake-effect snow may set up in the wake of the system on Saturday morning but by Saturday afternoon it’s likely that the snow will end completely.
