Jordan Henderson did not wear the captain's armband for Ajax in their Europa League clash against Galatasaray as speculation persists about a move to Monaco.

Jordan Henderson is in talks over a free transfer from Ajax to Monaco. The former Liverpool captain, 34, is understood to be keen to make the switch before Monday’s transfer deadline. Monaco are in the market for an experienced midfielder and want to sign Henderson, but are unwilling to pay a fee because of his age.

Jordan Henderson has reportedly vowed to stay at Ajax until the summer after backing down on his demand to join Monaco. According to Amsterdam-based daily De Telegraaf, the former England international told the club yesterday he wouldn’t play for them again if they didn’t allow him to move to Monte Carlo in this transfer window.
