CSU Channel Islands evacuated due to the rapidly spreading Laguna Fire in Camarillo, with firefighting efforts underway.

Firefighters have slowed the spread of a huge wildfire churning through rugged mountains north of Los Angeles where dangerous winds gained strength again.

The incoming rain this weekend brings mudslide threat to areas previously affected by the wildfires, as crews race to contain the Hughes Fire near Castaic Lake.
