England midfielder Jordan Henderson has left Ajax after the club agreed to end his contract early following a year and a half in the Netherlands.

Ajax captain Jordan Henderson is leaving the club on a free transfer. The English midfielder traveled to the club’s training camp in Zeist to say goodbye to his teammates and staff at the club. Henderson’s high salary was reportedly one of the reasons that both clubs felt the time had come for the 35-year-old to leave.

Jordan Henderson’s exit from Ajax was confirmed this morning with the England international now free to find a new club. Henderson’s contract with the Amsterdammers had another year left to run but the club agreed to his request to leave.
