Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk found himself in the middle of a fracas — surprise! — during the third period of Tuesday’s game against the Devils.

Dylan Larkin scored two goals and the surging Detroit Red Wings beat the Florida Panthers 5-2. Larkin, Jonatan Berggren and Patrick Kane had power-play goals for Detroit, which also got a goal from Marco Kasper.

After falling on Monday night to the Philadelphia Flyers, Florida dug deep and earned a gutsy 2-1 shootout win over the Devils, thanks in large part to a great game between the pipes by Spencer Knight.

Despite playing a well-structured game, the Devils fell to the Panthers in a shootout. Check out what happened in this recap.

A team that will be forever linked to the Florida Panthers is in town this weekend. Florida will welcome the Anaheim Ducks to Sunrise on Saturday night in a matchup of expansion brothers. All the way back in 1993, the Panthers and Ducks entered the NHL together as two brand new teams in non-traditional hockey markets.

Sam Reinhart leads the Panthers in goals (27) and points (51), while Matthew Tkachuk is second in both points (40) and assists (26). Recently named the “Athlete of the Year” in his native Finland, captain Aleksander Barkov ranks third in points (38) and first in assists (27).

The New Jersey Devils lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night at The Rock. The Devils played a solid game, limiting chances, particularly in the first and second periods, but had a few missed offensive opportunities that sent the game to overtime and then a shootout.

After holding an optional morning skate, The Hockey News asked Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe if his lineup would change. "We've got a game-time decision or two that might impact the group," he said. "We will have to see how that plays out tonight."

Lucas Raymond leads Detroit in scoring with 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists), while Dylan Larkin sits in second with 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists). In addition to ranking third on the team in points (36), Alex DeBrincat paces the team with 19 goals, including eight on the power play.
