Residents in neighborhoods across Chicago celebrate summer and Independence Day by setting off fireworks Friday night.

Bars and restaurants offer their own ways to enjoy Independence Day, including serving flights of red, white and blue drinks.

Fireworks displays are expected to light up Chicago-area skies for the Fourth of July, but one of the region’s most popular shows won’t be happening on the holiday — the iconic fireworks at Navy Pier.
