The Japanese driver clipped the kerb and lost control of the rear of the RB21. Momentum carried it sideways before he hit the barriers and flipped upside down. Thankfully, the car landed the right way up and Tsunoda was able to exit the car unassisted and walk away from the crash.

McLaren has updates of its own, with new aerodynamic components around the rear corner of the car to offer "improved flow conditioning and overall increase in rear aerodynamic load," per its pre-event technical notes.
