The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the owner and operator of the container ship that rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March, seeking $100 million in damages.

The Justice Department alleges that mechanical and electrical systems on the massive ship had been "jury-rigged" and improperly maintained, culminating in a power outage moments before it crashed into a support column on the Francis Scott Key Bridge in March.

The Justice Department is suing Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Private Limited over the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore.
