Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey say Hawaii's Kilauea volcano has once again awoken from its slumber, sending lava shooting hundreds of feet into the air early Tuesday morning in what has become an almost weekly occurrence.

Video footage captured by Scott Malis during the volcano's 11th episode shows lava spewing out of Kilauea volcano and spinning into the air.

Fountains dropped in height 250 feet (80 meters) to 300 feet (90 meters) on Tuesday night, according to the Hawaii Volcano Observatory. On Wednesday morning, a webcam still showed tall bursts of fiery red lava and billowing smoke.

According to the US Geological Survey’s (USGS) Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, episode 12 of the Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. HST when sporadic lava flows alternated between the south and north cones. The episode ended at 10:37 a.m. HST on Wednesday.
