Ernest Rust was not looking at the prize amount incorrectly, Michigan lottery officials said in a Feb. 13 news release. He had hit the Mega Millions jackpot and won $1 million.

A 43-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket Magnificent Millions instant game ticket at the 9 Mile Stop & Go, located at 28955 Van Dyke in Warren. Originally believing that he had scratched off a losing ticket, the man discarded the ticket.

A lottery player decided to follow his wife’s lead and won big, according to the Michigan Lottery. The 56-year-old winner, who wanted to remain anonymous, said his wife had some luck winning prizes from instant games,
