Madison Chock and Evan Bates are bidding to become the first ice dancers to win three consecutive world titles in 28 years.

Ilia Malinin of Team USA is atop the leaderboard at the 2025 world figure skating championships after a dominant short program.

The Norwood-based pair had the best free skate of their career at their first World Championships in front of a hometown crowd.

Chock and Bates’s season-best score (90.18) put them ahead by nearly four full points of Canada’s Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier (86.44) in rhythm dance.
