South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun is at risk of losing over $13 million as his career faces uncertainty following allegations of an underage relationship and financial coercion involving actress Kim Sae Ron.

According to Goldmedalist – an agency established by Kim Soo-hyun and his cousin – the actors dated from the summer of 2019, after she became an adult, to the autumn of 2020. Kim Sae-ron was born in July 2000, while Kim Soo-hyun was born in February 1988.

On Feb. 16, 2025, Korean actress Kim Sae Ron was found dead at home. The death of the 24-year-old, who had risen to popularity as a child actress, was later ruled a suicide. Reports soon began to emerge that Sae Ron had owed 700 million won (S$652,000) to her former agency, Gold Medalist, at the time of her death.
