A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of the tri-state area in anticipation of light freezing rain Friday night into Saturday morning. Areas north and west of I-95 will be most susceptible to a thin glaze of ice on the ground early Saturday morning.

The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for freezing rain on Saturday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire County for potentially icy roads between 4 a.

However, that also means there will be fog, which could be locally dense at times, to contend with. A First Alert that this could impact travel Saturday night into Sunday morning, along with slick spots on the roads that are untreated.

A robust storm system that is sweeping across the southeastern U.S. Saturday night will bring the risk of strong and severe storms to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry Sunday afternoon. Sunday will be a Storm Team 3 Weather Aware Day.

As a cold front starts to sweep across SE Texas, we will be seeing the chance for heavy rain, large hail, strong winds, and we are not ruling out the chance for a tornado.
