A 39-year-old Ridgefield Park police officer was killed in a snowmobiling accident Saturday in upstate New York, officials said. Steven Fernandez, of Saddle Brook, was riding west on trails in Harrietstown just after 2 p.m. when he lost control of his snowmobile and struck trees after sliding down a steep embankment, New York State Police said.
