Jordan Henderson is in talks over a free transfer from Ajax to Monaco. The former Liverpool captain, 34, is understood to be keen to make the switch before Monday’s transfer deadline. Monaco are in the market for an experienced midfielder and want to sign Henderson, but are unwilling to pay a fee because of his age.

By moving to Saudi Arabia, the midfielder played under former teammate and Reds legend Steven Gerrard, and was also reunited with ex-Liverpool teammate Georginio Wijnaldum. However, the Englishman's time in the Middle East lasted only six months as he made a swift return to European football by signing for Dutch giants Ajax in January of 2024.
