As Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing heavy snowfall, locals have displayed their hospitality by opening mosques and homes to stranded tourists.

The Army responded to a distress call from the civil administration and following the evacuation, hot meals shelter and medications were provided to the tourists.

To expedite the resumption of services, a WDM locomotive equipped with a snow cutter has been deployed to clear the tracks. The locomotive will run along the affected stretch to ensure the tracks are fit for train movement,

The Chinar Warriors of the Indian Army evacuated 68 civilians and assisted 137 tourists stranded in Gulmarg due to heavy snowfall. They also rescued a pregnant woman in Kulgam and provided emergency medical assistance.
