Elon Musk says President Trump has asked SpaceX to bring astronauts stranded on ISS home ASAP
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have been stuck on the ISS since June 2024 after arriving on the Boeing Starliner spacecraft as part of the Crew Flight Test mission. NASA decided that they would come home on Dragon after " uncertainties " surrounding Starliner.
Musk's SpaceX to rescue stranded astronauts from ISS
Billionaire businessman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has pledged to bring home two astronauts stranded in the International Space Station (ISS) following a request by President Donald Trump. Musk announced Tuesday that SpaceX will now take charge of the mission to ensure Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are brought back to earth after delays and technical issues surrounding their spacecraft.

Two NASA astronauts flew to the International Space Station in June on Boeing's Starliner capsule. The test flight was planned for eight days but technical troubles forced the capsule to return empty.

At the time of writing, Williams and ISS crewmate, Nick Hague, are conducting NASA’s first spacewalk in over a year. The pair are scheduled to spend roughly 6.5 hours in the vacuum of space, where they will work on a number of long overdue external repairs and equipment assessments.
