The US Department of Transportation is blaming the higher costs of new cars on recent regulations. The newly confirmed head of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Sean Duffy, has ordered the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to reset the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for automakers.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Duffy has directed the NHTSA to reconsider fuel economy rules established to help promote EVs under the Biden administration.
