National Weather Service officials issued a wind advisory for portions of the Chicago area as temperatures are expected to reach 50 degrees with possible wind gusts up to 55 mph.

A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for Chicago and areas north and west. Temperatures this week will stay above average, with highs near or above 40 degrees through Friday. Rain is possible Thursday night through Friday night,

Another arctic cold day with single digits is ahead for the Chicago area. Cold weather advisories remain in effect until 2 p.m. on Tuesday and extreme cold warnings for western suburbs last until noon.
