We visited in July. Loved it. Saw re enactment with the trains and spike. 150th anniversary year. Walked the Big Fill Loop Trail and took one of the auto tours. The longer one was closed. Wondered if it was open now as we plan to visit again this year.

My wife and I also visited last year (150th Anniversary Year). We drove the shorter East Auto Route and did the Big Fill Trail. Enjoyed our visit very much. Your best bet to find out about the longer West Auto Route is to call the park and ask them. They should be able to give you accurate information.
About how much time does it take to drive each of the Auto drives (2mile East and 7 Mile West)? Is it a drive by, or are there stops along the way? Thanks for your help.

We only did the 2 mile drive. Depending upon how much time you want to look at things, it can take you and hour to see the Union Pacific's last cut, several trestle abutments and fills. You can walk to the Chinese Arch, a natural limestone formation, that is a memorial to the thousands of Chinese workers. The steepest mile of railroad grade is the end of the 2 mile loop. You can call the visitor information center: 435-471-2209x29.
Too bad you did not like it. We had a great experience!

No interactive exhibits, depends on the child if it holds their attention, yes you can see the engines close up, yes you can get in without a high clearance vehicle, allow at least an hour.
